Last week I wrote about a group of women representing Emancipate that were coming to New Orleans.
Well, they came, they saw and now you can read the blog posts where they share their experiences while in New Orleans via video and and written entries. The following from a post clinches it for me. They get it.
“It was so beautiful and simple and typical of the litany i’ve been hearing from everyone here. We want to restore the heart of our hearts, our beautiful people, our deep roots, our culture. We don’t want to be “improved” or “cleaned up” at the expense of our dignity and history. I want to, somehow, in any way i can, be a part of helping that to happen.”
Videos include a jam session with charmaine Neville, a trip to the Lower 9th, a tour of B.W. Cooper and a trip to the Grand Bayou Community in Plaquemines Parish.
