Hulk Hogan was crowned King of Bacchus today at Children’s Hospital, my place of bidnez. A few of us in the Patient Services Dept went over for the coronation and I snapped a few pix which can be found on my Flickr site.
For Mardi Gras novices, the Krewe of Bacchus parade rolls on the Sunday before Mardi Gras, which is this coming Sunday. They always have a celebrity “king” who is traditionally crowned at Children’s Hospital the Friday before the parade.

And the Bucktown Allstars were there too playing the traditional Mardi Gras tunes. Those are some cute guys and, man, can they blow dos horns and beat dem drums!

It was lotsa fun and the kids got a kick out of it. After the crowning and speeching Hulk went up to the units and visited the little ones who were too sick to come out. Unfortunately, I couldn’t weasel my way in……which is fine – it was for the kids, not us.
Before I run, I want to give a little shout-out to Nola Notes and her post of Mardi Gras 2006 memories – a very poignant post for those of us here for that first MG after Katrina.
HAPPY MARDI GRAS!

HAPPY MARDI GRAS!!!
Whoo-hoo. It’s that time! Have a wonderful weekend. Love he pics!
Thanks for the linkage! Hope to see you out on the route!
I don’t believe he is considered a king unless the Krewe had to change their designations. I believe Hogan will technically be the “God of Bacchus”. Bacchus is the wine god in mythology. Too bad they’re rolling on Super Sunday again.
Why does Hulk Hogan have less armpit hair then my wife?
Happy Holidays.
