Today at lunch I drove over to Audubon park which is only 2 blocks from my office — it’s nice to get outdoors a bit during the work day. I found an empty gazebo along the river where I sat happily munching my ham & olive salad sandwich, cheetos (crunchy NOT puffy) and swigging (like that word swig) a cold Barq’s rootbeer. The Barq’swas very thirst-quenching as always except it was in plastic – I prefer my cold drinks in bottles because it tastes better and the bottles are recyclable. Oh well, not green today I guess.

The John James Audubon was docked and I snapped a couple of pix for today’s CAC Photo Thursday, subject being summer.

I love the river – she calls me to her banks as a siren sings for the homesick sailor. I love this description from Malaika Favorite’s “Uses for Dry Bones”

“A sorceress, purveyor of seeming, an allusion – Her beauty calls us. She is grasping, an insatiable hunger to taste our sweetness of life.”

The JJA cruises up and down the river between Audubon Zoo and The Aquarium of the Americas – it’s one of many great ways to spend a summer afternoon in New Orleans and kids love it. The Audubon Institute offers package deals so be sure to put it on your itinerary when you come down to visit. And you MUST come down to visit!

As for the season finale of Lost…..my husband (who doesn’t watch it much) received either of these responses when he asked a question:

1. I don’t know
2. It’s too complicated to explain.

He said he read a critique that said anyone could begin watching at any time and know as much as a veteran viewer. Weeelllll……not exactly but ,yeah,I’m still lost, they’re still lost, everybody’s lost.
But it’s like a scab you can’t stop picking so I’ll be tuning in again next season!
